The Ranch Conservancy Lions

The Ranch Conservancy is home to over 30 lions, many of which have been groomed for human interaction. Our current prides and their forebears have appeared in a total of over 400 international movies, documentaries and commercials. Credits include such blockbusters as "The Gods must be Crazy", King Solomon's Mines and The Ghost & The Darkness.

Walking With Lions

This "one of a kind" activity allows you to accompany lions in their natural habitat on foot for an hour and a half, under the guidance and supervision of an experienced guide. Close interaction with lions strengthens mutual respect and extends understanding and feelings for conservation on the part of visitors.

Game Drives and Horseback Safaris

There are daily game drives and the option of horseback safaris for visitors seeking another perspective on our resident wildlife.

Bird Watching

Bring your binoculars and your Roberts Guide to spot and record over 200 species of birds resident in The Ranch Conservancy.

Educational Initiatives

Become Mohlatsi's friend, the resident white lion that communicates with his friends from all over the world through Facebook and Twitter.

Rehabilitation

Active in wildlife rehabilitation since the 1960's when organised conservation was in its infancy, The Ranch Conservancy continually offers shelter to orphaned or injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild. In September 1973 it provided a safe haven for lions and other Big Five animals from Zimbabwe which were under threat at a time of political and social instability.
